A FEW TRUTHS ABOUT ME...I feel like I've been writing all my life, and at the same time, that I'm just getting started. I'm the author of the critically-acclaimed young adult novel - LIE - from St. Martin's Press (August, 2011) -- and the forthcoming BEFORE MY EYES, also from St. Martin's Press (winter, 2014). In addition, I'm the co-author with my sister, Susan Blech, of the memoir, Confessions of a Carb Queen (Rodale, 2008), which was optioned by Sony Television. As a graduate of Syracuse University, I had the distinct honor of studying creative writing with Raymond Carver and poetry with Tess Gallagher and Jack Gilbert. In 2011, I received my MFA in Fiction from The City College of New York, and have taught there as an adjunct lecturer in the English and Mass Communications departments.
Prior to focusing on my writing (and family), I led the marketing and public relations departments at Bravo, The Independent Film Channel (IFC) cable networks and IFC Films for over a decade. Notably, I was part of the executive team that launched IFC.
Going back to the beginning: I was born in the Bronx, and brought up in New Rochelle, NY by a remarkable father who raised four children alone after my mother suffered a stroke when I was four- and-a-half years old. Yes, I'm the oldest of the four siblings.
As of August, 2013, I live in Potomac, Maryland, having moved from Long Island, New York with my husband, two kids and 26 pound cat, Shelton. I read a lot. I also write screenplays ,poetry and blog now and then. LIE, my first novel, is available everywhere books/ebooks are sold from St. Martin's Press -- and look for
